A Wisconsin native, Jim Vanderberg made a name for himself as a racing driver. His parents immigrated to Canada when they were children. His grandparents worked as candy makers in Eastern Europe and used their skills to make their way to Canada. After they settled in Canada, they started a business. The family bought land with maple trees and began making maple syrup. This business eventually grew to be a major industry in Eastern Canada.

Jim Vandenberg enjoyed life. He was the past president of Williamsville Fire Department. He also served as a truck driver, pump operator, and he married Mary Gladstone Vandenberg, July 22, 2006. Jim and Mary enjoyed golf and travel together. They often traveled to Branson, MO, and South Dakota. They loved hunting and spending as much time outdoors as possible. Jim was a lifelong member the National Rifle Association (NRA). His grandchildren were his life, and he loved to watch them play games and watch movies.

Jim was born in Eastern Europe. His grandparents had a small farm and grew maple trees. They eventually sold the business, but Jim continues the family tradition by harvesting maple sap each year to make maple candy. In the 2020s, Jim left his corporate job and became a full-time maple syrup candy maker. Jim Vanderberg currently lives in Toronto, Canada.
